Yay for Drywall!

This crew was amazing!  They hung the 4ft by 12ft sheets and made it look so easy!  Two days and the 3 person crew was done!

 Then the next crew came in and in two days it was all taped and mudded!

Spray Foam, What a NIGHTMARE!

They spray it in,  it expands then they cut off the excess.  It makes a big mess!  The machine want working right so that made available even bigger mess!

 It came out exterior vents!

 It got into outlets:

We opted to use spray foam insulation instead of rolled in traditional fiberglass insulation.  We used 2x4 exterior walls,  spray foamed them and then spray foamed the ceiling of the attic,  not the floor of the attic attic like is traditionally done.  This is called cocooning the home.  When finished the the attic will be about the same temperature as the rest if the home. This keeps the home from heating up as much in the summer and makes it more energy efficient than traditional insulation.

Once they cut off the excess they cleaned everything, bagged the garbage and threw it into the dumpster.

The Exterior

They started wrapping the house today! 

After the front porch was wrapped we realized it didn't look right.  So after some discussion we had them change it a bit.

Then they built a soffit.

Then they wrapped the new part.  Now all the parts on the front porch will be the same height. 

They also installed the exterior doors!  Love them! Here's the front door.

Plumbing and Electrical

Not as many good pictures for this step of the process but here are a few!

 At this point we still don't have water here yet.  To test the pipes under pressure we borrowed the neighbor's hose.

Roof, duct work and windows oh my!

Next up:
The roof!  And yes it rained before the roof was finished...in fact it seemed to rain a lot during the framing. It kept the temps unreasonably low and we were extremely grateful!

During all that the windows arrived!  So pretty!

Framing

Framing has started!  It's exciting to see the rooms come to life!

Day 1:

They are moving so fast!

Day 3: this lovely truck showed up! 

 Then the workers came and then this other awesome truck showed up!

And then my monkeys had to climb up and enjoy the view!

Day 4:
They finished the roof,  interior walls and the outside. 

Yup, a house can go from the ground up in 4 days!

More cement!

Around 4 am yesterday I was awoken by the glorious noise of cement trucks coming to pour our beautiful slab! (I'm sure the noise wasn't beautiful to the few neighbors we have but it was necessary to be early.)

It was like Christmas morning and there was no way I was going to miss it,  so while everyone kept sleeping I went out to watch the magic happen. 

And happen it did! 

And still is!  

They smoothed the concrete and resmoothed it until about noon! 

Then another cement truck came and they poured some more and smoothed some more! 

And then we did this to that  perfectly smoothed concrete.

And then later that night they cut up our beautiful concrete.  (In theory it should now crack on the cuts not other places)

The next day we had lots of fun creating cities, drawing walls of rooms,

 And bubble baths.
